We advanced on two flanks, using creative methods: Ukrainian Armed Forces make progress near Bakhmut
In the area of Bakhmut, the Russians lost more than 170 people killed and wounded over the course of a day. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, despite the parity of forces, are holding the initiative and moving forward.
Defense forces advance in the area of Bakhmut and repel massive Russian attacks in the Kupyansk-Lyman sector. Thanks to their motivation and creativity, Ukrainian defenders are gradually moving forward, preserving manpower and equipment as much as possible. Serhiy Cherevaty, a spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces, said this during a telethon on July 7.
Situation in the area of Bakhmut
According to Serhiy Cherevaty, the Defense Forces continue to put pressure on the enemy in this area of the front and advance along the northern and southern flanks.
“Over the last day, we have covered more than a kilometer there. The enemy is putting up fierce resistance. He fired at us 318 times from multiple rocket launcher artillery and carried out 3 air raids. In total, there were 7 engagements, during which 61 occupants were killed, 116 wounded and 5 captured. Two enemy BMPs, armored personnel carriers, armored personnel carriers, 1 Grad MLRS, 2 Hyacinth self-propelled artillery systems, 2 cannons, 2 electronic warfare stations, 5 ammunition depots and an anti-tank complex were destroyed. The occupants sometimes counterattack, but in general, we have the initiative. We are moving forward, despite the fact that we have parity in means and strength, we do not have an advantage over them,” said Cherevaty.
Situation in the Kupiansko-Lymanskyi sector
The situation in the Lyman-Kupyansk sector is more tense. The enemy has concentrated powerful forces here and is trying to push the Defense Forces out.
Over the past day, the Russian Armed Forces carried out 6 attacks, fired 578 times at the positions of the Defense Forces using all types and calibers of artillery. 19 enemy air raids were recorded. While repelling the enemy’s attacks, 35 occupants were killed, 86 were wounded, and 2 were captured. An enemy infantry fighting vehicle, mortar crew and 5 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed.
“The occupiers are trying to seize the initiative there, concentrating quite powerful forces. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of enemy, they have a lot of artillery, but the previous group was defeated, and this one is not as well trained, coordinated and equipped. They lack motivation compared to what our fighters have. Our motivation and creativity in combat operations allows our troops to successfully repel enemy attacks in certain areas and inflict damage on the enemy, and to move forward in the Bakhmut sector in a very measured, very thoughtful manner, preserving manpower and equipment as much as possible,” said the spokesman.
As a reminder, the Russian occupiers are deploying reserves in the Donetsk region. The movement of equipment and the movement of the invaders is recorded in the area of Mariupol. Here, the number of occupants has previously increased by 7-10 thousand.
