What Zhulyany airport in Kyiv looks like after the Russian invasion (photo)

Google Maps has published updated satellite photos of Kyiv (Zhulyany) airport. They show what this capital’s gateway looks like after the start of the Russian invasion.

The runway in Zhulyany is blocked along the entire perimeter by buses, gasoline tankers, snowplows and even luggage carts.

The blocking of the end of the runway with the 08 course is further reinforced by five aircraft, including business jets and a passenger An-148.

Satellite images show that all parking lots at the Kyiv airport terminals are empty. Airplanes have been towed away from the buildings to remote aprons.

Among the parked aircraft, three Airbus A320s of the low-cost airline Wizz Air can be recognized by their distinctive coloring. Prior to the Russian invasion, they were based in Kyiv and were stationed in Zhuliany on the night of February 24, 2022. The low-cost airline did not have time to evacuate these aircraft before Ukraine’s skies were closed to civil aviation.
