WhatsApp is preparing a revolutionary feature that will allow you to write to Telegram and other messengers
WhatsApp is preparing for a multi-platform future: soon it will be possible to write to users of Telegram, Discord, and other messengers. In the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, a new section called Third-party Chats has been added to allow you to add chats from other messengers.
The feature is already being tested, but it is not yet known when it will be available to everyone.
This section will receive messages from other messengers, even from accounts that are not registered in WhatsApp. The beta version has already added compatibility with Telegram and Discord, and eventually support for all messengers will be available: Viber, iMessage, Signal, and others.
This innovation is due to the new law on large monopolies. As part of it, Apple should open up the installation of applications not from the App Store, as well as access to NFC, and programs, including WhatsApp, should be compatible with various messengers.
The exact date of this feature launch is still unknown. It is expected to be implemented in the next update, as the EU law comes into force in March. Perhaps something similar will appear on Telegram and other messaging services.
The new law will actually prevent the practice of forcing users to install 3-4 messengers to keep in touch with friends and acquaintances. Instead of having a monopoly on messaging services, messengers will have to lure users with user-friendly interfaces, security, and useful features.
