Will allow to “see through walls”: armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the Vegvisir Core situational awareness system

Ukrainian armored vehicles will receive the latest Vegvisir Core situational awareness system.

Vegvisir said that they signed their first contract for the system in cooperation with DefSecIntel.

The system will be used to increase the situational awareness of vehicle crews in Ukraine.

“This is the first step in supporting Ukraine, and we will do more in the near future,” the company said.

An Estonian-Croatian company has developed a new situational awareness system for armored vehicle crews in 2022.

Vegvisir is a technology that allows users to observe, navigate, make decisions and act faster on the battlefield and in critical situations.

Simply put, according to the manufacturer, the system enables the armored vehicle crew to “see through walls.”

The system uses cameras, sensors, and image processing algorithms to provide 360-degree MR/VR images to the vehicle crew with a display on the military.

As a result, the crew inside the armored vehicle can still see not only their immediate surroundings, but also enemy positions in real time at a distance of up to 10 km, according to a statement from Defensphere.

Key features of Vegvisir:

  • A modular configuration that allows you to use individual solutions to solve 95% of potential user tasks;
  • Four levels of redundant sensors: driver sensor system, short-range sensor system with bird’s eye view, medium-range sensor system with full infrared channel and long-range commander’s sight;
  • Ruggedized helmet displays with VR interface or screen options;
  • 360-degree mounted commander’s sight with four viewpoints and a range of up to 10 km;
  • Low light optics for night driving;
  • Multispectral sensing.

Vegvisir is developed in accordance with NATO military standards.

The system is also integrated with other platforms used on the battlefield, including unmanned ground vehicles. The system already has NATO’s STANAG conformity accreditation.
