Xiaomi will equip its electric cars with Hesai lidars for autonomous driving
The Chinese company Xiaomi, according to network sources, has decided on the leading supplier for the autonomous control system of its first robotic car with an all-electric power plant. Chinese Hesai Technology will act as a partner.
It is about the use of the hybrid solid-state lidar Hesai AT128, which was announced in August last year. This solution has dimensions of 137×112×47 mm. The device is protected against dust according to the IP6KX standard, against moisture according to the IPX7 and IPX9K standards. It is possible to work in a wide temperature range.
The lidar provides a range of up to 200 meters and a field of view of 120 × 25.4 degrees. The device is able to register 1,536,000 points per second, thanks to which high detail is achieved. Ease of integration into the car is important.
The Hesai AT128 module has already been adopted by several Chinese car brands, including Li Auto, Pixel-J, HiPhi and Lotus China.
It is also noted that Xiaomi has currently invested about $478 million in the development of autopilot technologies. The funds went to the formation of a research team of approximately 500 specialists, the purchase of startups, partnership agreements, etc.
