Icon of the Seas is 365 meters long and weighs about 250,800 tons. It is the first Royal Caribbean International ship to run on liquefied natural gas and use fuel cell technology.

Finland has completed construction of the world’s largest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas. The vessel has already passed the first tests, and it is planned to be launched for sea trials in October this year. This was reported by CNN.

The Icon of the Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean International, is a huge ship with a length of 365 meters (almost 1200 feet). Its weight will be about 250,800 tons. By comparison, it’s like trying to keep two CN Towers afloat.

The liner is scheduled to make its maiden voyage in January 2024. It will sail through the waters of the Caribbean, with about 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members on board.

Part of the liner is reserved for a water park, which, according to the ship’s creators, will become the world’s largest water park at sea. The liner has been classified as “category 6” and will have 6 water slides, 7 swimming pools and 9 hot tubs.

The liner is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard, one of Europe’s leading shipbuilders in Finland. The current title of the world’s largest cruise ship is held by the Royal Caribbean Fleet’s Wonder of the Seas. This liner was launched for the first time last year. It has a slightly shorter length of 1188 feet and 18 decks.

Royal Caribbean International sees Icon of the Seas as the pinnacle of cruise line evolution, utilizing the latest technology and building on 50 years of experience in the company’s history.

According to Royal Caribbean, Icon completed its first series of sea trials on June 22. The vessel was sailed for a hundred miles, and the main engines, hull, braking systems, steering, noise and vibration levels were checked.

The ship promises more than 40 options for dining, drinking and entertainment, many of which are included in the cruise price. The liner has 20 decks and 8 quarters for all ages and tastes.

There are 28 different types of accommodation for families with ocean views and for group travelers.

Icon of the Seas is also the first Royal Caribbean International ship to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and use fuel cell technology as part of the company’s move towards a clean energy future.

Icon of the Seas will depart from Miami for a vacation to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, and the tour is designed for seven days and seven nights. Tickets for the upcoming trip are already selling like hotcakes.
