Protecting the Ukrainian sky: Ukrainian Armed Forces use the latest domestic radar “Phoenix-1” (photo)

To protect the airspace, Ukrainian radio engineering troops use the latest radar station 80K6KS1 “Phoenix-1”.

The photo of the installation was published by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Phoenix-1 three-coordinate radar detection station was developed in Ukraine and put into service only in 2021.

The system is designed to detect objects in the viewing area, determine their coordinates and speed in the airspace, and track them within a radius of 400 kilometers.

A radar operator at his post detects Russian cruise missiles and other airborne targets. Each is assigned a number, and the location and direction of movement is entered into the automated control system (ACS) and transmitted to the command post.

Radar 80K6KS1 “Phoenix-1”

The Phoenix-1 station is a further development of the 79K6 and 80K6 radars based on modern solid-state modules and using digital antenna array technology.

In addition, the new radar is built on the latest element base of special radar signal calculators, which operate according to highly efficient algorithms developed by Iskra.

The radar is adapted for use inBuk-M1anti-aircraft missile systems. However, it is also capable of working autonomously.

It is compatible with Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, as noted by the developer, it is also capable of working together with foreign-made systems.

Structurally, the radar station, generator and control center are located on a single trailer chassis. This simplified the logistics and the deployment time, which was reduced to six minutes.
