Significant progress in the field of technology leads to an increase in the likelihood of document falsification. Therefore, the need for additional protection methods to reduce this risk becomes obvious.
In the future, driver’s licenses and car registration certificates will be equipped with new security features to reduce the risk of forgery. According to the Resolution No. 1358 adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, this change came into force on December 26.
According to these changes, the Ministry of Internal Affairs services will issue improved documents to citizens containing additional security features. They will be added to both driver’s licenses and car registration certificates. It is important that the protective coating of the documents will be marked with a special label.
The certificate form will also contain a QR code in the lower right corner containing a link to the online service of the Main Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This service will allow you to check the data entered into the certificate. This will significantly reduce the risks of forgery and provide an opportunity to check the legitimacy of the car registration certificate online.
Currently, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively working on the introduction of new security features on both driver’s licenses and car registration certificates.
Service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will issue improved forms of these documents until they are fully used or no later than August 1, 2024. From this date, citizens will be issued driver’s licenses and registration certificates with new security features.
However, it is important to note that citizens can continue to use previously issued driver’s licenses and car registration certificates. These documents remain valid for the period for which they were issued, and exchange for new ones is possible only at the request of the citizen.
