Architectural studio Cutwork has developed the concept of inexpensive modular housing – the ReHome project was conceived specifically for Ukraine, as it is a quick solution for replacing damaged or destroyed houses.

According to Antonin’s leading architect Yuji Maeno, such real estate can be easily adapted to accommodate different numbers of people, which is quite useful in a crisis situation.
“The idea is not to build purely emergency shelters that will not be used in the long term, but to build quality affordable housing that can provide shelter and safety in all conditions and situations,” he said.
The ReHome system consists of 27-square-meter blocks that can be stacked “like Lego blocks” to create buildings up to six stories high. The blocks themselves will be manufactured off-site to ensure fast and cost-effective construction.
“In terms of the scale of the challenge ahead, we see prefabrication significantly reducing the cost of creating affordable modular housing with economies of scale,” Maeno said.
The design allows you to combine or adapt the modules to create five different types of apartments. Each standard block will be divided into three sections, with bedrooms and utility rooms located in a central block sandwiched between large, variable living spaces.
