Ukraine has developed a new ammunition for FPV drones that can penetrate armored vehicles
Ukraine has developed the EFP-S armor-piercing munition for FPV.
This is stated in the document about the munition, which is freely available on the website of the Defense Ministry.
The product, which weighs only 1 kg, is a member of the Shock Wave Dynamics (SWD) family of ammunition.
The warhead of the EFP-S munition has a “shock core”, a powerful armor effect and a long range of remote destruction.
It is used against lightly armored vehicles (armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers), which are protected by anti-modulation and anti-drone means.
The document states that the armor penetration is 25 mm. The range of damage is from 1.5m to 50m.
The weight of the projectile is 165 g. The velocity of the impactor reaches 1800 m/s.
At the same time, the combat unit can be equipped with C4 (420 g) or PVV-5a (390 g) explosives, which consists of 85% hexogen.
EFP-S consists of:
- removable part of the case;
- screws for fixing the removable part;
- cap for fixing the detonator;
- an adapter for attaching to the drone frame;
- a sight for aligning the course camera;
- rubber lining.
The design of the ammunition is attached to the FPV drone using nylon clamps.
The manufacturers state that effective operation requires remote detonation of the EFP-S munition and a heading camera verification before the hit.
In recent months, the Russian military has begun to be hit by FPV drones with new Shock Wave Dynamics anti-personnel munitions.
