Russians have begun to install rocket-propelled grenade launchers on their T-80 tanks (video)

Footage has appeared in the public domain, which shows that the Russian military (probably one of the marine units) has installed RBU-6000 rocket launchers on the chassis of T-80 tanks, thus creating another home-made “Frankenstein.” The footage shows that the occupiers now have at least two T-80s with RBU-6000s at their disposal, the probable time and place of use of such weapons by the enemy is not specified.

We can also see the amount of rework required to create such “Frankensteins” – dismantling the tower and welding the base to accommodate the RBU-6000. Probably, to turn the barrels of the bomber, it is necessary to turn the entire machine.

Compared to another similar “hybrid” – MT-LB with RBU-6000 – the T-80-based “Frankenstein” may look like a more rational solution. If only because the tank chassis has a much better load capacity than a “motorized sled” for placing a 3.5-ton bomb.

But on the other hand, where the Russians got the machines for such processing is a separate interesting question. Because it is equally likely that these could have been damaged T-80s from repair bases where the turrets could not be restored, and it could have been a “dream of the Russian occupiers who decided to take combat vehicles for such an “upgrade.”

Apparently, in the case of the T-80, the RBU-6000 bombs are also loaded manually, and the accuracy of the firing is also extremely low, with a significant spread.

Russian occupants demonstrate the spread during volley fire from the RBU-6000 on the MT-LB, a freeze frame from a video of racist propagandists.

During the full-scale invasion of Russia, this is the first “hybrid” based on the T-80 that has been “spotted” by rashists, and only the second known “hybrid” using a tank chassis in general. By this time, in May 2023, it became known that the Russian occupiers had at least one T-54/55, which had a S-60 anti-aircraft gun instead of the standard armament.

In turn, the appearance of MT-LB with RBU-6000 in Russia first became known in September 2023, and in January 2024 it became known how this hybrid was fired.

If we continue the topic of racist vehicles using improvised materials at repair bases, we can also mention MT-LBs with turrets from BMP-1, which were recorded in the summer of 2022 and in the fall of 2023.
