Researchers at the University of Glasgow (Scotland) have studied people’s faces and their perception in society.
It turned out that the shape of the face and facial expressions can influence the way people see and consider a person: they may seem either rich or poor.
A new study has shown that a typical millionaire looks like this: narrow face, snub-nosed corners of the mouth, raised eyebrows, high forehead, prominent nose, close-set eyes, rosy cheeks, and fair complexion. In general, he is somewhat reminiscent of Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
Faces associated with poverty look more “childlike” with squat and rounded features.
“The results [of the study] demonstrated that stereotypes explain the connection between appearance and judgments of people’s social class. The stereotypes we hold affect the way we perceive others: they distort our perception,” the scientists emphasized.
