The Chinese are buying GEFORCE RTX in neighboring countries to resell it at a premium
The GeForce RTX 4090 video card is banned for sale in China. And despite the fact that a special version of RTX 4090D has already been released, many users want the regular model, which has led to a rather interesting situation.
Recently, RTX 4090 sales have grown strongly in various Asian countries, including Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, and others. These video cards are bought there for resale in China.
Moreover, in many cases, Chinese sellers buy fully-ready gaming PCs with RTX 4090 to remove the video card and sell it separately at a high margin.
For example, there is a story about one particular case. A Chinese seller bought 20 complete systems from a Taiwanese PC seller in Taipei. A ready-made PC with RTX 4090 cost about $4,450, but that didn’t stop the reseller. It is important to note that the RTX 4090 is not primarily of interest to gamers, but rather to those who need a solution for working with AI. And such customers are willing to overpay.
