Nazariy Moshensky, Senior Software Engineer, posted a screenshot of a rejection from a European employer, arguing that he does not live in Europe. Although Moshensky accepted the company’s position, it caused outrage among other IT professionals. They expressed disagreement with the decision of European companies not to hire Ukrainians, reminding them that Ukraine is part of Europe. This was reported by DEV.ua.
The situation caused a wide response among the IT community, with dozens of comments about the challenges faced by Ukrainian IT professionals when looking for work in Europe. Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C Solution Architect Stepan Hryhorenko and Dynamics ERP Architect Yevhen Glazov shared their experience of similar situations, emphasizing the difference between the European Union and geographical Europe.
Mariana Schuldt noted that companies may not want to complicate their lives with visa procedures and laws on hiring foreigners. At the same time, Konstantin Khomko, DevOps Engineer, believes that such rejections may be just a formality that has nothing to do with the candidate’s real location.
