Mercedes-Benz is preparing a worthy competitor to the Tesla Model 3

The new electric sedan will borrow the design and technologies of the particularly efficient Vision EQXX prototype.

We have known about Mercedes-Benz’s intention to make a fully electric analogue of the current C-Class sedan for quite some time. Work on this model has not yet been formally confirmed in Stuttgart, but the Motor1 artist has already fantasized about how it could look.

The so-called Mercedes-Benz EQC Sedan, aimed at competing with the Tesla Model 3, should borrow some of the design and engineering solutions from the Vision EQXX concept, which was presented earlier this year and set a record this summer by driving 1,202 kilometers on a single charge of a 100-kilowatt battery. hours

At the same time, the serial four-door will probably not be as spectacular – but almost as effective as the prototype. She received a shortened nose and stern and a raised roof in the central part – for more space above the heads of the passengers. The record coefficient of aerodynamic drag of 0.17 will most likely increase to 0.19 or 0.2: it is still more than a decent indicator – at the level of the flagship EQS liftback.

The Vision EQXX is built on the MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform, designed for compact and medium-sized electrified models, and the future EQC should be one of the first commercial vehicles on this platform. The capacity of the battery pack will likely be reduced for pricing reasons, but here it should be noted that the EQXX battery is 50% more compact and 30% lighter than the one in the EQS, while being noticeably more efficient. Accordingly, buyers will still be able to count on a range of 500-700 kilometers.

It is expected that the lineup will include modifications with one and two electric motors, including an AMG version with a capacity of around 500 hp. The premiere should take place closer to the middle of the decade.
