Thieves have learned how to steal cars using a JBL speaker

Cars can be stolen using a JBL speaker. Thieves discovered a vulnerability in models equipped with keyless access.

French police have arrested two kidnapping suspects who committed crimes using a JBL wireless speaker.

Of course, the column was modified and a quick-start software key was sewn inside, which allowed cars to be stolen literally in a minute. Such speakers can be freely bought on the black market, and as a bonus to the speaker, buyers receive a link to a video that contains instructions for stealing cars.

The whole carjacking process takes less than one minute. Thieves opened cars using a speaker, then connected to the multimedia system via a USB cable and thus started the car.

Anyone can buy such modified speakers on the darknet: they cost about five thousand euros. In addition to the column itself, each buyer is sent a link to a video showing the main stages of the hijacking. It is already known that some Toyota, Lexus and Peugeot cars can be stolen with the help of such a column.

In early August, American TikTok users launched a challenge in which they distributed video instructions for stealing Hyundai and Kia cars. After the publication of the videos, the number of crimes in the United States increased sharply, and thieves stole cars not for fun, but for resale.
