Google will add a chatbot based on artificial intelligence to the search engine
According to the American TV channel CNBC, Google developers are currently testing their own chatbot with artificial intelligence — Apprentice Bard. The newly created algorithm should reproduce the functions of the already known AI from OpenAI, ChatGPT, and even be one step ahead. Apprentice Bard is built using Google’s LaMDA technology, which is similar to the AI language models used by ChatGPT itself.
One of the advantages of Google’s algorithm over ChatGPT will be its ability to tell about current events. OpenAI previously warned that their chatbot has ‘limited knowledge of the world and what happens after 2021.’ Instead, Apprentice Bard ‘keeps his finger on the pulse’ and can even answer questions about the recent mass layoffs at Google.
During the experiment, the developer asked the algorithm whether the tech giant would conduct another round of cuts. ‘According to my access to the database, it is unlikely that Google will have another round of layoffs in 2023,’ Apprentice Bard’s response reads. ‘Layoffs are usually made to reduce costs, but the company is doing well financially. In fact, Google’s revenue is up 34% in 2021, and the company’s stock price is up 70% since January 2022.’
Google is also testing alternative versions of its home page, with one version replacing the ‘Get Lucky’ button with prompts for potential questions. Note that the tech giant is currently working on a redesign of the desktop version of the Chrome browser. However, it is still unclear when Google plans to release a global redesign of the browser. Many users speculate that when it arrives, it will target not only Windows, but also macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Fuchsia, and Lacros.
