Microsoft is going to launch ads in the Microsoft Store

Microsoft has started encouraging software developers to use Store advertising, which allows developers to improve the placement of their apps in the store. In its blog, the company says that the ads are created ‘to help developers grow their business by showing their apps or games to the right customers at the right time in the form of ads’, but it should be noted that the likes of Adnroid and iOS have a rather negative experience.

We have known about advertising in the store for a long time – Microsoft wanted to launch it back in May 2022 and published a message about its deployment in January. But now it’s telling developers they can use the system to promote the launch or update their own apps. According to the company’s website, the ads will appear ‘in the Microsoft Store app on Windows in search results and in the Apps and Games tabs:

In general, we could already see such ads in the Apple Store or Google Play, but at the start, the Apple company ‘got in trouble’ when it started showing ads on the application page itself, where, for example, gambling games were often advertised on the application page to overcome gambling addiction and etc. So far, it seems that Microsoft has not gone that far, but we will see what happens next.
