Ukrainian Armed Forces reveal losses of Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks

As part of the international defense support, Warsaw handed over an unknown number of PT-91 Twardy to Kyiv. Since the start of the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost only one Polish tank. According to military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko, the tank was lost on July 9 in Zaporizhzhia region. He was hit by a mine.

One of the strengths of Polish tanks is the ERAWA dynamic armor, whose elements are mounted end-to-end. Unfortunately, the sides are not protected in all versions. The Ukrainian military has to shut down their Kontakt-1 wireline.

Polish tanks boast a special coating that can absorb radar radiation. Given the enemy’s active use of laser-guided anti-tank weapons, this feature is of great importance.

The PT-91 Twardy uses an 850-horsepower powerplant, which provides the tank with acceptable mobility. When additional remote control units are installed, the engine power is not enough. The P-91 Twardy is equipped with a 1,000-horsepower PZL-Wola S-1000 engine. The SKO-1M Drava system is used to control the tank’s fire.
