The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a very rare Arctic Tor-M2DT

Russia had only 12 such anti-aircraft missile systems

Photos of the Russian Tor-M2DT anti-aircraft missile system, which was destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, have been posted on social media. This is probably the system that was eliminated in early February 2023 in the Kherson region.

The Ukrainian defense forces were able to destroy only two Tor-M2DTs. At the same time, the Russian Federation had only 12 anti-aircraft missile systems in service. This version is designed to work in difficult conditions.

“The Tor-M2DT is an Arctic version of the Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system. It was introduced about 6 years ago and built on the basis of a two-link crawler conveyor DT-30. The Russian Defense Ministry first demonstrated the system on May 9, 2017.

The Tor-M2DT launcher uses 9M338 anti-aircraft guided missiles. The area of impact is 1-16 km in range and up to 10 km in height. The air defense missile system is capable of responding to four air threats flying at a speed of no more than 1000 m/s simultaneously.
