Ukraine, together with Sweden, wants to produce CV90 infantry fighting vehicles

Ukraine and Sweden declared their intention to jointly produce Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

What is known

The information was shared by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Sweden on August 19. There are no details of the negotiations yet. It is only known that in the first stages Ukraine wants to create a center for the repair of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles, and then launch a full-fledged production of infantry fighting vehicles.

By the way, a few months ago we wrote that Ukraine plans to purchase 1000 CV90s. The project is likely to be implemented jointly with the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

For those who don’t know

The CV90 is a Swedish infantry fighting vehicle developed in 1984 by Hägglunds (owned by British BAE Systems) at the request of the Swedish Army. Production of the machine began in 1993. Since then, about 1170 BMPs have been produced in various modifications. By the way, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have 50 such infantry fighting vehicles in service.
