Ukrainian Armed Forces show photos of F-16 fighters in Ukraine
Few people know that F-16 fighters have already been in Ukraine. In 2011, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted Safe Skies exercises in Myrhorod with the participation of American pilots. For two weeks, F-16C/D aircraft regularly took off from the Myrhorod airfield, along with Su-27s and MiG-29s.
Unlike the United States, Ukrainian airfield runways are covered with slabs. The F-16 did not have any problems with them. The joints between the plates were sealed by the airfield services in advance.
Limited resources were used to service the American fighters, delivered to Ukraine on a C-17 transporter.
American pilots practiced landing an F-16 in Myrhorod using an airborne finisher.
In addition, they flew several joint flights with Ukrainian aircraft in formation.
Ukrainian pilots managed to fly two-seat F-16 fighters. For their part, American pilots tried their hand at flying the Su-27UB.
