LPD-820 anti-drone guns with UAV detector spotted in Ukraine

“PPP Laboratory” brought to the Army 2023 exhibition an anti-drone rifle LPD-820 with an integrated UAV detection sensor. According to TASS, the first copies of the LPD-820 have already been delivered to Ukraine.

The detector built into the gun is capable of detecting aircraft at a distance of 1 km. According to Denis Oslomenko, the company’s CEO, the LAPD-820 helps solve the problem of small drones. Due to their small size, such drones are usually detected visually when they are already on target.

The main disadvantage of any anti-drone gun is that it starts working on a UAV when it is in line of sight (200-300 meters). This means that the drone operator has already selected a target for attack. The LPD-820 does not have this drawback. It detects drones at a distance of 1 km, i.e. when they have not yet been guided by operators to the target.

Oslomenko claims that the drone is suppressed by a gun at the point of detection. The direction finder and jammer operate at the same angles. The drones are detected by the LPD-820 in the 2.4-5.8 GHz frequency range and then immediately suppressed.
