The car ran out of fuel during the race: what the driver did

The Japanese driver Max Orido, who led from the first to the last lap, managed an unusual finish, but ran out of fuel…

At the final corner, the fuel pump sucked the last drops of fuel into the 551-horsepower engine of the BMW M4 GT4, and when the finish line was just around the corner, the driver realized that luck was not on his side this time. The sports car drove a few hundred meters more by inertia, but it was not enough to reach the goal – the finisher’s flag was waving unattainably ahead.

The international circuit of the Asian GT4 series in Okayama has never seen anything like this before, but this Saturday it did: Max Orido was forced to jump out of his car and push it to the finish line. Although he was outrun by five racing cars, he still managed to get to the coveted line and took sixth place in the race.

This score helped in the next day’s races. On Sunday, the pilot took advantage of the chance and won the 2023 Fanatex Japan Cup.
