As a result of a road accident that occurred in the evening of August 22 in the village of Brodetske, Vinnytsia region, 12 people died, including six children.
According to preliminary reports, the collision between a VAZ car and a DAF truck killed the driver of the car and 11 passengers, including 6 children aged 2 to 12.
Police detained the 42-year-old truck driver and placed him in a temporary detention center.
Investigators have ordered several examinations to uncover the causes and circumstances of the accident.
In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings were opened under Article 286(3) of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles). This article provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
