Four foods that speed up metabolism
It’s no news that metabolism slows down with age. These changes in the body lead to fatigue, hair loss, headaches, and weight gain. But there is a way out! You should add four healthy foods to your diet that can speed up your metabolism.
Chili peppers
Lauren Manacker, a member of the Council of Medical Experts, says that capsaicinoids (CAPs), which are found in both chili peppers and pepper extracts, play a role in boosting metabolism.
Ginger
Some studies have shown that ginger improves thermogenesis (calorie burning). Ginger consumption has been proven to have anti-inflammatory, antihypertensive, sensitizing, and stimulating effects on the gastrointestinal tract.
Its root will help overweight or obese people lose weight. This is due to the fact that ginger is full of natural antioxidants. They, in turn, can help you lose weight.
Oatmeal, but not flakes
Oats and other whole grains can help people maintain a healthy metabolism. Whole grains help increase a person’s resting metabolic rate. And oatmeal will help you feel full longer and burn more fat.
It keeps the microbial balance of the human body healthy by providing a better ratio of “good” and “bad” intestinal bacteria.
Dark chocolate
Consuming chocolate rich in flavonoids, such as dark chocolate, can improve a person’s metabolism.
The expert notes:
According to a study published in Molecules in 2018, people who consumed 2 grams of dark chocolate containing 70% cocoa daily for 6 months experienced better glucose metabolism compared to people who consumed 2 grams of chocolate milk.
But remember the permissible rate. You should also make sure that you only buy a product with 70% cocoa or more. The lower the percentage of cocoa in a chocolate bar, the higher the percentage of added sugar.
