Adobe launches web version of Photoshop with AI tools based on Firefly
Of course, only for paid users.
After two years of beta testing, Adobe has officially launched the web version of Photoshop for paid users – updated with Firefly-based artificial intelligence tools (such as Generative Fill and Generative Extension). However, you can share and collaborate even with colleagues who do not have a subscription.
Adobe announced the Generative Expansion (allows you to expand an image and fill it with content based on a hint) and Generative Fill (can add or remove objects while keeping the context of the image intact) features back in May – and launched them first in the Photoshop beta on the web (which could be a platform for faster updates or testing of Adobe features). The tools support more than 100 languages in text queries.
The company says that the web version comes with “most” of the tools from the standard app (including a contextual taskbar that provides suggestions for next steps), but it still lacks tools like Patch, Pen, and Straightedge (although Adobe says it’s “working” on porting them over).
The web version of Photoshop is available to Photoshop paid subscribers, starting at $9.99 per month, and will not be available as a free app after launch.
