Russia has trained its strategic deterrence forces. During the event, an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched.
Russia launched a Yars missile (SS-27 Mod 2 according to NATO codification). It has a launch weight of 46 tons, three stages, a maximum length of 22.5 meters and a separable head section with individual guidance units. The maximum charge capacity is 500 kilotons.
The SS-27 Mod 2 intercontinental ballistic missile was first launched in the spring of 2007, and two years later the Russian army adopted it. The missile is capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to a distance of 12,000 km.
The Russians launched the SS-27 Mod 2 from the Kura test site in Kamchatka. The new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile did not participate in the training of the Strategic Deterrence Forces.
