Apple to show off three M3 processors at Scary Fast event on October 31 – Bloomberg
Apple is planning to announce the M3 line of processors at its Scary Fast event tonight – it will consist of three models: M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The event will start on October 31 (02:00 Kyiv time) and should bring a lot of hardware announcements. Earlier, Gourmet reported that the company is preparing a new 24-inch iMac, as well as updated MacBook Pros with new M3 series processors.
The M3 line of chips should be a significant leap over the M2 in terms of performance in terms of runtime and battery life. This is what Gourmet expects from all three upcoming novelties:
- M3: the central processor will have eight cores (four for high-performance tasks and four efficient cores focused on background functions) and 10 cores for graphics processing. This corresponds to the number of cores in M2.
- M3 Pro: This chip was tested in several configurations, including a configuration with 12 processor cores (six for performance and six for energy efficiency) and 18 graphics cores. The most productive versions of the M3 Pro are likely to have 14 processor cores and 20 graphics cores.
- M3 Max: This processor was also tested in various configurations, including 16 processor cores (12 for performance and four for efficiency) and up to 40 graphics cores. There was also a less powerful version with 32 graphics cores.
The announcement of three new processors at the same time would be a significant achievement for Apple, especially considering that these products are based on 3-nm technology. This also indicates that Apple has reduced the period required to develop new generations of chips. The M2 processor was announced 19 months after the debut of the first M1. The M3 presentation on Monday will reduce this gap to about 16 months.
