TikTok has deleted millions of fake accounts since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas

The video service TikTok has announced the removal of millions of fake accounts and content items that appeared on the platform after Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7.

According to the press release, moderators have blocked more than 925 thousand posts. videos “in the conflict region” and millions more “content units” from around the world. The company also stated that there has been a “wave of fake activity” in recent weeks.

Since October 7, we have deleted more than 24 million fake accounts worldwide and more than 500 thousand bot comments on content under conflict-related hashtags

The report comes amid new calls in the US to ban TikTok. Some US lawmakers have accused the app’s algorithms of disproportionately promoting pro-Palestinian content.

The company denied the accusations and called the analysis of the platform’s hashtag data unfounded. According to TikTok, the #standwithisrael tag has been viewed 46 million times in the United States since October 7, and #standwithpalestine 29 million times.
