British nuclear submarine with Trident 2 missiles almost sank in the Atlantic: what happened

A British Navy Vanguard-class nuclear submarine with Trident 2 ballistic missiles on board nearly sank in the Atlantic Ocean.

This was reported by The Sun on November 19.

According to the newspaper, the submarine was preparing for patrolling in the Atlantic, but it turned out that the depth gauge sensors were out of order. As a result, the submarine almost “entered the danger zone,” but the crew used a second depth measurement sensor to detect the malfunction and raise the alarm in time.

At the same time, it is not disclosed which submarine it is and to what dangerous depth it has dived “for security reasons”. However, it is known that there were 140 crew members on board the nuclear boat.

“We do not comment on operations. Our submarines continue to be deployed around the world, protecting the national interest,” the source emphasized to The Sun.

Meanwhile, the authors of the publication noted that if a disaster had occurred, a secret rescue operation would have had to be organized urgently to prevent the Russians from being the first to discover the submarine.

Finally, it is said that the British Navy has four Vanguard-class submarines at its disposal, but only two of them are currently in service.
