A bicycle with built-in 5G mobile communication is presented

Orbic has released the first electric bicycle with built-in 5G mobile connectivity. So far, there are few details about why the bicycle has built-in mobile Internet. But the company says it can be used as a Wi-Fi access point.

Until now, Orbic’s business has focused on low-cost smartphones, laptops and tablets, as well as mobile hotspots, LTE smartwatches and wireless headphones.

At the moment, there is little information about the bike. It is known that the “brains” of the Android ebike are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm chipset, and that it has built-in object avoidance and collision detection technology.

This works by using a 140-degree 2-megapixel camera sensor on the rear panel that monitors approaching traffic and triggers audible and visual alerts if something gets too close. These visuals are displayed on the 7-inch touchscreen display in the center of the steering wheel.

On the screen, the driver can quickly check the battery status, speed, distance, and navigation functions. The display is also home to an 8-megapixel selfie camera that supposedly facilitates video chats, which seems to contradict Orbic’s overall message of rider safety with this bike.

There’s also a 64-megapixel camera on the front of the bike for live streaming your adventures without having to invest in a separate action camera.

In addition, the connection between cyclists creates a sense of total immersion and communication between riders to increase safety and camaraderie, Orbic said in a press release. The system allows you to see where your friends are in real time on the steering wheel display.

The company says that the e-bike’s intelligent system can even detect whether the user is wearing protection, and the bike only turns on when a helmet is detected.

And thanks to the 5G connection, the bike serves as a high-speed mobile hotspot “at a picnic, on the trail, and even at home at a backyard barbecue,” as the company describes it.
