A criminal was detained in Ternopil region after beating a serviceman and taking away his weapon (photos)

In the city of Kremenets, Ternopil region, police detained a man who had beaten a soldier and taken his weapon.

“On August 21, around 17:30, the police received a report that a soldier had been beaten in a forest belt. The victim was taken to a hospital with numerous head injuries,” the regional police website reported.

According to the information, a conflict arose between the victim and the suspect, which escalated into a fight. As a result, the soldier lost consciousness, and the attacker took his assault rifle and bulletproof vest, after which he fled in an unknown direction.

The detainee was a 42-year-old resident of Kremenets who had previously been convicted of violent crimes.

Police arrested an armed criminal with the support of KORD special forces.

In addition, during the operation, the police rescued his partner and her two minor children, who were also in the apartment.

A weapon, bulletproof vest and other stolen items belonging to the soldier were seized from the man.

Criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 262, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (seizure of firearms by robbery).

This article provides for imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years with confiscation of property.

The issue of serving a notice of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is now being considered.
