A dollar for 50 hryvnias — the Ukrainian government’s forecast for 2023
At the end of 2023, the dollar exchange rate will reach 50 hryvnias, and the consumer price index will reach 30.6% – such indicators are laid down in the macroeconomic forecast of the Ministry of Economy, EP sources in the Cabinet of Ministers informed.
First of all, it should be clarified that the macro-forecast of the Ministry of Economy serves exclusively for the calculation of future revenues and expenditures in the budget for the next year — according to the Budget Code, the government must submit the budget text to the parliament no later than September 15. At the same time, macro forecasts of the government come true extremely rarely.
At the same time, according to the macroeconomic forecast, at the beginning of 2023, the hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar will rise to 42 hryvnias per dollar, and at the end of the year the hryvnia will depreciate even more – to 50 hryvnias per dollar. At the same time, Ukraine’s GDP will decrease by 33.2% by the end of 2022, and should grow by 4.6% next year.
Also, the government expects a further increase in prices next year. Thus, the inflation set in the macro forecast for 2023 is 30.6% (as of June, it was 22.2%). According to the calculations of the Ministry of Economy, the unemployment rate should be 28.2%, and the average salary should be UAH 18,508.
After all, you don’t need to be an analytical genius or a great financial expert to predict the further rise in prices and devaluation of the national currency, which, by the way, celebrates its 26th anniversary today, in the current conditions of full-scale war. And, of course, all this will have a corresponding effect on the prices of consumer electronics. A few days ago, the co-owner of ALLO shared his own assessment, in which he predicted a further increase in the price of electronics by another 45-60% over the next 4-5 months.
