A new highly productive gas well was launched in the Kharkiv region

Ukrgazvydobuvannya launched a new well in the Kharkiv region with a flow rate of over 140,000 cubic meters. m of gas per day. This is reported on the company’s website.

“In annual terms, this is 51 million cubic meters of gas, which we can now not import, and this means that Ukraine will save $102 million on gas imports only thanks to the efficient operation of one well,” – said Naftogaz Chairman of the Board Yury Vitrenko.

UGV indicates that this is high productivity, and it was achieved thanks to three stages of hydraulic fracturing (fracking), which made it possible to fully reveal the potential of gas-bearing horizons.

“This technologically complex operation was carried out for the first time by the forces of our own unit – UGV-Service. Thanks to the high-quality coordinated work, the new well gave a good result – and this is another contribution to providing the country with its own Ukrainian gas”, commented the director of the gas production division Tolmachev on the launch of the well.

The peculiarity of the hydraulic fracturing operation, the company said, was that all stages were performed within one production cycle, that is, without lowering and raising the equipment.

The new well also provided additional geological information on the structure of one of the fields and data for building a 3D model of the field.

  • On September 1, Ukrgazvydobuvannya announced the launch of a new well in the Lviv region with a production volume of 115,000 cubic meters. m per day. It was drilled in one of the deposits that were previously considered exhausted.
  • On September 7, Naftogaz announced the discovery of a significant gas deposit at a depth of more than 6 km in the Kharkiv region. The exploratory well yielded more than 120,000 cubic meters. m.
  • Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolesnyk said in July that by the end of the year, gas production in Ukraine will decrease to 18.5 billion cubic meters due to the war. m. Before the beginning of Russian aggression, daily production was about 55 million cubic meters. m, and in summer – 49.5 million cubic meters. m.
