A passenger opens fire at Chisinau airport

Today, June 30, one of the passengers opened fire at Chisinau Airport (Moldova).

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the press secretary of the General Inspectorate of Police Diana Fetko, as reported by NewsMaker.

People are reported to be evacuated from the airport building. The reasons for the shooting have not yet been reported, and there is no information about the person who opened fire.

Details of the incident

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that a foreign citizen who was banned from entering Moldova used a firearm. Law enforcement officers are at the scene.

Due to the incident, all flights scheduled for June 30 are delayed at the airport.

Two victims

The police confirmed the presence of two victims at the Chisinau airport. The FULGER Special Forces battalion intervened in the situation.

Reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said that the Ministry is monitoring the situation at the Chisinau airport.

“Diplomats are interacting with Moldovan authorities to get details, to find out the possible presence of Ukrainians,” Nikolenko wrote.

Attempted detention

The FULGER special police brigade reported that they were trying to detain the aggressor.

“Two people have already become victims. Commercial activity and flights have been suspended for the time being,” the security forces added.
