On Friday late in the evening, September 8, Morocco was rocked by a strong earthquake that killed at least about 300 people. The consequences of the disaster were posted on social media.
This was reported by Al-Arabiya and Reuters.
Powerful aftershocks with a magnitude of 6.8 were recorded in the High Atlas Mountains. Marrakech turned out to be the closest city to the epicenter of the events. The earthquake destroyed many buildings, including historical monuments.

Most of the deaths occurred in inaccessible mountainous areas. More than 150 people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Work is underway to clear the rubble at the scene.
