A Russian nuclear ship was on fire in Murmansk

The nuclear-powered container ship Sevmorput was on fire near the berth of the federal state unitary enterprise Atomflot in Murmansk.

This was reported by the Murmansk region’s Bi-Port news agency.

It is noted that the outbreak occurred in one of the cabins. The area of the fire is 30 square meters.

“At present, firefighters have reached the fire, are making every effort to eliminate the fire as soon as possible, are inspecting the adjacent premises, and there is no threat of spread,” the agency said in a statement.

Instead, according to TASS writes, the fire on the nuclear container ship Sevmorput in Murmansk has been extinguished, there are no victims.

What is known about Sevmorput?

This is a Russian nuclear cargo ship, a lighter carrier. It was built in 1988 and is one of the four nuclear-powered merchant ships ever built. The vessel returned to service in 2016 after extensive repairs.
