Ad-free for $4.99 per month: TikTok tests paid subscription
TikTok is testing a subscription service that allows users to view ad-free content for a monthly fee of $4.99. The price may change after the end of the trial period.
“The code in the TikTok app indicates that TikTok is testing an ad-free monthly subscription plan. The plan currently costs $4.99 per month in the US at this stage of testing, although the price may change when the feature is widely rolled out,” the article says.
TikTok has reportedly confirmed testing of this plan, although it disputes the full launch of the product.
In the latest version of the app, new lines appeared indicating that the short video service offers its users a monthly subscription plan without ads: “We are testing an ad-free plan. By continuing, you agree to the terms and conditions and acknowledge that you have read them to learn how we collect, use, and share data. You also accept the immediate provision of an ad-free subscription. The price includes VAT”.
The launch of the new version of the program introduced a new level of subscription without ads.
Earlier, a court in Indonesia sentenced a blogger to two years in prison for a video on TikTok.
