Air defense of Ukraine is gaining momentum: 7 out of 8 cruise missiles were shot down
The Air Force of Ukraine showed an efficiency of 87.5% in repelling this missile attack
The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to destroy at once seven missiles of the X-101 or X-555 type, which the Russians launched from the Caspian Sea area from Tu-95MS or Tu-160 missile carriers.
This was announced by the Air Force Command, noting that the missiles were launched in the direction of the central, southern and western regions of Ukraine.
‘Six missiles were eliminated by the anti-aircraft missile forces and one was shot down by an Air Force fighter aircraft. Unfortunately, there is one hit in the Lviv region – an anti-aircraft missile complex was hit. Damages and victims are being specified,’ – the Command reported.
At the same time, it should be noted that the effectiveness at the level of 87.5% is more than high even for NATO countries and any air defense does not guarantee absolute 100% protection. Moreover, if the X-101s were launched, their characteristic feature is the use of stealth technologies, which, together with the low-altitude flight profile, makes it an extremely difficult target.
And, in this generally positive news, there is one threatening factor. In particular, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, said that one rocket hit the object in the Chervonograd district of the Lviv region, which is located on the border with Poland and 132 km from the border with Belarus.
Thus, taking into account the currently known X-101 or X-555 missile guidance mechanism by coordinates, it means that the enemy was able to establish the location of the unnamed anti-aircraft missile system of the Armed Forces. The ways for this could be either agent intelligence or means of radio technical intelligence, in particular those located in Belarus.
