Air Force Commander shows how HAWK SAMs shot down Russian “chekhovs” at night (video)

Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk demonstrated the operation of the American HAWK anti-aircraft missile system, which Ukrainian soldiers used to shoot down Russian “chessmen” on the night of October 23.

“Western weapons have proven and continue to prove their effectiveness on the battlefield,” he wrote.

The footage shows MIM-23 missiles, which are part of the HAWK air defense system, engaging a Russian air target and shooting it down.

At night, Russia once again attacked southern, central, and eastern Ukraine with attack drones and an X-59 guided missile.

The Ukrainian military destroyed 13 Shaheds, a missile and one unidentified attack drone. 10 drones were shot down, in particular, over Odesa and Vinnytsia regions.

Earlier it became known that on the night of October 23, the Air Defense Forces were working in Kirovohrad region. There were also explosions and air defense activity in Khmelnytsky region.

The MIM-23 HAWK (Mobile Interceptor Missile) is a low- and medium-altitude surface-to-air system, an American all-weather, medium-range military anti-aircraft missile system manufactured by Raytheon Technologies. The system includes an anti-aircraft battery, usually with two firing units with three launchers each. Each mobile launcher carries three MIM-23 anti-aircraft missiles. And the launchers themselves can be either self-propelled or trailed.
