Albania will be the first to use ChatGPT to speed up its accession to the EU

The Albanian government has signed an agreement with OpenAI CEO Mira Murati to use ChatGPT. He has to translate thousands of pages of EU legal measures and regulations into Albanian, writes Euractiv.

Officials plan to use AI to optimize paperwork. Albania will be the first country to use artificial intelligence to assist in the EU accession process.

ChatGPT will participate in the translation and provide a detailed overview of the necessary changes to harmonize local legislation with EU rules. The model will also provide an analysis of the impact of all measures and changes that usually require a lot of experts and time.

This approach will reduce the need for numerous translators and lawyers, which could cost millions of euros. A joint team was created between OpenAI and the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI) to lead the project.

The government plans to present the successful test of the machine translation project at the EU summit in Brussels on December 13.
