American fighter jet lands on the deck of the British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales for the first time in history (photo)

It happened. The fifth-generation American F-35 Lightning II fighter jet has landed on the deck of HMS Prince of Wales.

A few weeks ago, a Royal Navy aircraft carrier set sail across the Atlantic for an exercise off the coast of the United States. A few days ago, an American F-35B fighter jet landed on the deck of HMS Prince of Wales with a short takeoff and vertical landing.

The fifth-generation aircraft belongs to the 23rd Air Test and Evaluation Squadron of the US Marine Corps. The landing of the F-35B on the deck of the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier was an important milestone for both the F-35B and the Royal Navy ship

HMS Prince of Wales is taking part in WESTLANT 23, which involves a series of flight tests to assess the capabilities of naval aviation, in particular the fifth generation F-35B Lightning II fighter jets.
