An iPhone survived falling out of an airplane and flying 5 km to the ground (photo)

On social network X, there was a message from a user who found a smartphone that fell out of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9.

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Portland Airport on January 5 because it lost part of the fuselage at an altitude of about 5 km. Luckily, none of the 177 passengers on board were injured, but some of their belongings flew overboard during the incident.

The X user, who calls himself Seanathan Bates, posted a photo of an iPhone in a protective case on his account.

The iPhone survived a fall from a height of 5 km

He said that he found the smartphone on the side of the road while walking along Barnes Road. Bates also noted that the smartphone is in working condition, the battery is half charged and the airplane flight mode is activated.

The screen also showed an electronic baggage claim ticket for an Alaska Airlines flight that almost ended in a disaster. Based on this, Bates concluded that the iPhone fell out of the plane and survived a fall from a height of about 5 km.

Interestingly, the published photo failed to identify the model in question – it could be the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 15 Pro.

After the discovery of the smartphone, Bates contacted a dispatcher at the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, who informed him that this was the second smartphone found after the recent incident.

Since its publication, Bates’ post has received several million views and tens of thousands of likes.
