Apple has broken a tradition it has been following for 12 years
Apple did not release a single new iPad in 2023, breaking a tradition that had been maintained for 12 years. This is the first year that the company has decided not to launch any new tablet computers in a calendar year since the original iPad was introduced in 2010.
Since its debut, the iPad has been an important product for Apple, which has managed to become a clear leader in the tablet segment. Therefore, since 2010, at least one new iPad has appeared on the market every year, and sometimes the manufacturer has released up to four new models. Apple’s newest tablet is the iPad, released in October 2022. The only iPad-related product released in 2023 was the Apple Pencil stylus with a USB Type-C interface.
The history of Apple tablet computers began in 2010 with the launch of the first generation iPad. The following year, the iPad 2 was introduced, and a year later, the third and fourth generations of the iPad, as well as the first iPad mini. In 2013, Apple released the first iPad Air and iPad mini 2, and a year later updated these models. In 2015, the first-generation iPad mini 4 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro were launched, and in 2016, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro was introduced. The iPad 5, 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2, and 10.5-inch iPad Pro were launched in 2017, and a year later Apple introduced the iPad 6, 11-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3.
The iPad 7, iPad Air 3, and iPad mini 5 were launched in 2019, and in 2020, the iPad 8, iPad Air 4, 11-inch iPad Pro 2, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro became available to customers. 4. According to rumors, Apple is planning to release several new products in 2024, including updated iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. The flagship iPad Pro is also expected to receive significant hardware and functional upgrades, including an OLED display, Apple’s proprietary M3 processor, and a new keyboard.
