Aroma Join, the world’s first speakers capable of transmitting odors, was shown at CES 2024
At CES 2024, the Japanese company Aromajoin presented the unique Aroma Speaker 60 speakers that reproduce not only sounds but also more than a hundred different aromas. The company suggests that developers use a special scent creation toolkit (SDK) to create special video experiences with scents for a deeper immersion.
Upon entering the exhibition, visitors could smell the aroma of salted caramel emanating from the attractive glossy red Aroma Speaker 60 speakers. These speakers are capable of projecting sound and aroma at a distance of up to 2 meters. They complement the visual experience, creating a more realistic experience, for example, by reproducing the smell of grass when a green field appears on the screen, or the aroma of food when food is shown on the screen.
Each column contains 10 modules with 6 essential oil cartridges, which are the basis for creating a variety of fragrances. These speakers are capable of creating different scents that instantly change depending on the changing scenes on the screen, providing a dynamic and immersive experience.
Aromajoin has not yet released the Aroma Speaker 60 for sale, using them as a proof of concept to attract developers and marketers to develop the ecosystem. They also offer an open app and SDK for creating flavor profiles for videos. The company also sells a virtual reality accessory, the Aroma Shooter Wearable 3, designed to be worn around the neck and used with virtual reality headsets, such as Meta Quest 3, to create a more immersive experience in the metaverse.
