Asks for ‘guarantees’ for Moscow: Macron made a scandalous statement regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO

Ukraine is unlikely to be able to join NATO because of the position of the occupying country of Russia. It was subjected to Russian aggression and needs security guarantees. However, such guarantees should allegedly be provided to Moscow itself. Everything will end in negotiations, and it cannot be allowed that they be conducted by China and Turkey. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron.

As reported by Le Figaro, in an interview with the French media, Macron spoke about the fact that in the process of ending the war, security guarantees should be provided to Ukraine – as the affected party. At the same time, the aggressor Russia should receive similar guarantees.

According to him, the integration of Ukraine into the Alliance is unlikely, as Russia considers such a step as a confrontation.

‘With this Russia (the entry of Ukraine into the North Atlantic Alliance, – ed.) it is so difficult to imagine… But whether Ukraine joins NATO – which is not the most likely scenario – or not, it needs to be given security guarantees, especially since it suffered aggression from Russia,’ Macron explained his position.

Also, the French president believes that the war will end with negotiations, and it is better not to allow a situation where only China and Turkey conduct the dialogue.

‘Still, everyone will need to sit down at the negotiating table… And I don’t want only China and Turkey to conduct negotiations in the future,’ Emmanuel Macron emphasized.

Macron’s words about ‘security guarantees’ for the aggressor Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron said at the beginning of December that the Russians, they say, should be given their ‘guarantees’ in the future European security concept. However, such guarantees may be obtained by Moscow when it returns to the negotiation process.

However, he also specified that the decision on when negotiations between Ukraine and Russia should take place should be made by Kyiv.

‘Do you think that when we were going through the tests related to Alsace and Lorraine, we would want a world leader to tell us to do this or that? So here too – it is up to the Ukrainian people to decide for themselves, and not for us to decide which under the conditions, how and when (to hold talks with the Russian Federation), – said Macron.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, harshly criticized Macron’s words about the alleged ‘security guarantees’ of the occupier of the Russian Federation. Danilov emphasized that there should be no more under-the-carpet diplomacy, and the best guarantee would be demilitarization and depriving Russia of nuclear weapons.
