At night, unidentified drones attacked three Russian regions at once

On the night of Thursday, January 11, the territory of Russia was attacked by unknown drones. Air defense systems were operating in Rostov, Tula and Kaluga regions. Russia blames Ukraine for the attack, Kyiv has not confirmed this information.

This was reported by the enemy’s Ministry of Defense. According to the official data of the Russian side, everything was allegedly shot down.

It is noted that the Russian air defense forces were operating at about 4:30 am. They allegedly managed to intercept three drones.

“Three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted by regular air defense systems over the territory of Rostov, Tula and Kaluga regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Prior to that, the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, wrote that two drones were shot down over the territory of the Kamenskiy district. And the governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, said that a drone exploded on the outskirts of Kaluga.

“The drone detonated over the technical structure of the pumping station, causing damage to the building,” the statement said.

At the same time, there are no reports of a drone being shot down in the Tula region. This may be a sign that the unknown UAV did hit something, and the Russian Defense Ministry is silent on this fact. In addition, reports of drones being shot down in other areas may also be false.

The war of the drones

Russia’s war with Ukraine has actually become the world’s first massive drone war. Due to the extreme intensity of the fighting, as well as the enormous size of the front, both sides lack the technical equipment to conduct high-tech warfare. This is where kamikaze drones come in handy.

They are already mass-produced by Russia. At the same time, it is not military facilities that are used for production: in particular, UAVs are being assembled even at bread factories. Ukraine has also launched its own production of serial drones for the needs of the Armed Forces. However, these volumes are unfortunately not enough to meet all the needs of the army.

The territory of Russia regularly suffers from attacks by unknown drones. In particular, there was another raid on Moscow recently. The Russians have been terrorizing Ukraine with drone attacks for at least a year and a half.
