Belarus is preparing for escalation, there is talk of ‘preventive measures’ against Ukraine and NATO, – General Staff

The leadership of the Belarusian regime holds meetings with labor collectives, where it promotes the narrative of the need to take preventive actions against Ukraine and NATO. Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, announced this at a briefing.

“The activities of the Russian and Belarusian armed forces indicate systematic preparation for escalation. Thus, according to available information, officers of the Russian Armed Forces are participating in the assessment of the readiness of the military units of the Grodnetsk, Brest and Gomel regions of Belarus,” he said.

According to him, in general, it is planned to assess the readiness of the western region to bring it to combat readiness under the guise of training.

“Continuous meetings of the military-political leadership with representatives of labor collectives are held, at which they form the image of the enemy with the need to carry out “preventive actions” against Ukraine and NATO,” Gromov emphasized.

On October 25, Pavlo Klimkin, a diplomat and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, noted that, in terms of international law, it is necessary to treat Belarus clearly and carefully, so as not to bring the current Belarusian leadership out of responsibility as an accomplice of Russian aggression.
