Belarus refused to place Russian military bases on its territory

Belarus currently does not need to host Russian military bases on its territory. The level of development of defense technologies of the Russian army allows opposing NATO directly from the territory of Russia.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Volodymyr Makei, in an interview with the propagandist RIA Novosti. In his opinion, it will be enough to place Russian military bases in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation.

Makei emphasized that discussions about the urgency of placing Russian bases in Belarus as a result of NATO’s military build-up near the borders have been going on for a long time.

“But at this moment, taking into account the high level of military technology that has been achieved today, I think that there is no particular sense in placing additional foreign, in this case, Russian military bases on the territory of Belarus,” the Belarusian official said.

However, he noted that no one knows what may happen in the future, but the unpredictability of partners cannot be ruled out.

Earlier it was reported that the Belarusian authorities hope that Ukraine and Russia will conclude a peace agreement to end the war, and in this case they will demand security guarantees for themselves.

Also recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus for the first time called the aggression of the Russian Federation a war. In particular, Makey stated that the Republic of Belarus does not consider the possibility of using any weapon “against anyone”, and therefore ruled out an attack on Ukraine. According to him, Belarus is allegedly categorically against the use of nuclear weapons.

At the same time, about 130 “Wagners” arrived in Minsk and began training with the Belarusian security company “GrandService”. This company recently received a batch of uniforms used by the Armed Forces. It seems that the aggressor plans to stage provocations.

For his part, self-proclaimed Belarusian leader Oleksandr Lukashenko said that mobilization in his country will not take place. At the same time, he promised to “respond to possible threats”.
